Bhubaneswar: A book on Bhitarkanika National Park authored by Abasar Behuria was released by union minister Dharmenda Pradhan here at ‘Regional Museum of Natural History’ yesterday. The book titled ‘Bhitarkanika’ depicts a detailed canvas of the mangrove forest and the wildlife of the area.

Lauding the efforts of Behuria, the Petroleum minister said the State should promote tourism by exploring more tourist destinations. “About 30 to 35% lands of our State are covered by forest while 20 to 25% people belong to tribal category. These natural places could attract tourists from outside and we should promote them”.

Speaking about the book Behuria said, “When I moved back to Odisha after retirement, I started writing on the insistence of my friends. While researching about a story, I found there are no good books on the tourist spots of our State”.

The author compiled the book with fine visual representation of the national park. Wildlife lensman Basudev Pal Majumder assisted him much in the work.
