Bhubaneswar: Navratna PSU National Aluminium Company (Nalco) has signed an agreement with Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals (GACL), a Gujarat government-promoted company, for setting up of an integrated caustic soda plant and a captive power plant at Dahej in Gujarat.

The Central PSU said in a release here that the capacity of the caustic soda plant will be 2.7 lakh tonne per annum while the captive power plant will be of 100 MW. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1,789 crore.

Nalco will hold 40% equity in the project whereas the balance will be held by GACL, the release added.

The joint venture-cum-share holders’ pact was signed yesterday here between Nalco chairman-cum-managing director N.R. Mohanty and GACL managing director A.M. Tiwari in presence of senior officials of both the companies.
