Malkangiri: A hardcore Maoist, wanted in connection with several criminal activities, surrendered before Superintendent of police in Malkangiri district on Saturday.

The surrendered ultra, identified as Rajirao Hantal was actively working with Maoist fold for the last ten years, police said.

Rajirao, who hailed from Phurpadar village of the tribal dominant district, admitted that he along with other 70 Maoists was involved Alampaka attack and Essar company fire operation.

According to police in a raid carried out a few days earlier by BSF jawans, Maoist posters and other materials were seized from Rajirao’s house.
