Jharsuguada: Flight connectivity from Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport in Jharsuguda to Varanasi will commence in the last week of January 2020.
Air India’s subsidiary, Alliance Air will run the fight from Jharsuguda to Varanasi via Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), Bhubaneswar from January 31. Similarly, the carrier will also begin Jharsuguda-Kolkata direct flight from January 27.
Once the two flight services are commenced, passengers can reach Kolkata and Varanasi from Jharsuguda quickly. While the Jhursuguda-Kolkata flight will take one and a half hour, the flight to Varanasi via Bhubaneswar will take around 3 hours.
Earlier, Alliance Air launched direct flight services to Bhubaneswar and Raipur in Chhattisgarh under 2020 under the Regional Connectivity Scheme-UDAN-III scheme. Similarly, SpiceJet has been running direct flight from Jharsuguda to Kolkata.
Jharsuguda airport director Sudesh Kumar Chouhan, “Alliance Air will launch the direct flight from Kolkata to Jharsuguda and again from Jharsuguda to Kolkata from January 27. Besides, Jharsuguda will also get connected to Varanasi via Bhubaneswar. Passengers who want to go to Varanasi can go via Bhubaneswar.”
