Malkangiri: A woman sustained burn injuries after her ex-husband threw acid on her face following heated arguments between them over custody of their biological children.
The incident took place when the woman, identified as Sankari Baidya, had come to her ex-husband Krupasindhu Sarkar’s residence at MV-47 in Malkangiri district.
Notably, the couple had tied the knot 12 years ago and had three children before they got divorced a couple of years ago. While Baidya remarried a man from Nabarangpur district’s Umerkote, their children were staying with Sarkar.
Source said, Sarkar asked Baidya to take the children along with her. But when Baidya reached his house, Sarkar got into an argument with her, following which he threw acid on her face.
While Baidya was hospitalized, police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused who fled following the incident.
