Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has requested Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad to establish a C-DAC regional centre in Bhubaneswar.

In a letter to Prasad, the chief minister stated, “Setting up of a C-DAC regional centre will accelerate research in high performance computing and data analytics and its application in industries and governance in the State.”

Mentioning that the State is prone to cyclone, Patnaik said application of high performance computing can help in weather forecasting and disaster management.

The C-DAC Centre of Excellence has already been established in the VSS University of Technology, Burla whereas the C-DAC has only one regional centre in the eastern India in Kolkata.
