Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister (CM) Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated language block in the Utkal University and announced a grant of Rs 15 crore towards purchase of instruments to make the Central Instrumentation Centre of the varsity fully functional.

The CM made this announcement at the students' union function of the university organised here on Friday.

Naveen also laid foundation stone of Human Resources Development (HRD) centre, Convention cum Outreach Centre and Biotechnology Annex, and said these centres would be of immense help to the students. “Development of infrastructure both social and physical has been our top priority. A lot of infrastructure has been developed here at Vani Vihar,” the BJP supremo added.

Earlier today, situation turned tense on the Utkal University Campus hours before Naveen’s visit leading to detention of 50 student activists by police. Amid tight security, the CM reached the venue ground in the varsity to attend the annual day function.
