Maoists cut Essar pipeline in Chitrakonda

Malkangiri: Maoists made their presence felt in cut-off areas of Chitrakonda once more today by snapping a pipeline of Essar Steel carrying iron dust near Palankarai under Ralegada panchayat in the district.

The red rebels cut the pipeline laid from Kirandala of Chhattisgarh to Vishakhapatnam, thereby disrupting the company’s operations.

On the other hand, residents in cut-off area have been deserting villages after getting constant threats from Maoists.

Three members of a family from Jantri village had to vacate their house after the ultras threatened them in a Praja Court. Suspecting one of the members of the family to be police informer, other members were warned by the rebels.
