Bhubaneswar: The Chhattisgarh Government has decided to submit detailed information along with facts and figures at the tripartite meeting to be held over the Mahanadi water issue in Delhi the second week this month.

The decision was taken at a meeting held between Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and senior officers of the State in Raipur yesterday. At the meeting, it was opined that though Mahanadi originates from the highlands of Chhattisgarh, it is using only 3.5 percent while Odisha is using 14 percent water of the river. Remaining 82 per cent river water is left utilised. Chhattisgarh Water Resources Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal was also present at the meeting.

Notably, Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti had on August 24 called for a meeting with the Chief Ministers of Odisha and Chhattisgarh on a mutually convenient date between September 10 and 20 to discuss the Mahanadi water issue.
