Puri: Jagannath Temple at Puri will remain closed for four hours today - from 2 pm to 6 pm owing to the conduct of secret ritual ‘Rahu Rekha’, informed Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).

As per the ritual, Rahu Rekha, the ornament which was removed from the heads of the deities on the day of Snana Purnima, will be put back on deities as the Sravana month ends.

After completion of rituals at Bhoga-Mandap, the Daitapatis and temple servitors will conduct the secret ritual inside the closed premises of the Temple during the shutdown period, sources said.

As per traditional belief, the ornament Rahu Rekha acts as a shield for Lord Jagannath to save Him from the ill influence of Rahu Kala which is considered inauspicious.
