Bhubaneswar: Buoyed by good response from air travelers, AirAsia has now decided to launch daily flight services to Kuala Lumpur from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar from October 26.

Official sources said the air traffic from Bhubaneswar airport has registered a sharp increase and AirAsia will now operate daily flights to Kuala Lumpur instead of four times a week.

AirAsia had launched its services from Bhubaneswar to Kuala Lumpur in April this year.

AirAsia’s move to offer direct air connectivity to Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur is likely to provide a gateway for the people of Odisha to other Asian countries and beyond.

Keeping in view the rise in the number of air travelers in Odisha, several airlines have also evinced interest to start flight operations to Middle-Eastern countries from Bhubaneswar airport, informed director Suresh Chandra Hota.

Hota further informed that an anti-hijacking mock drill was also conducted at Bhubaneswar airport today under the supervision of Odisha Home Secretary Asit Tripathy.
