Bride elopes with boyfriend after marriage

Bolangir: In a shocking turn of events a woman eloped with her lover on the fourth night of her marriage in Belpada block of Bolangir district.

As per reports, Umakant Putel had tied the knot on March 4. After marriage, he returned with his bride. The lover of the girl along with another person also came with the newly-married couple by misrepresenting themselves as the relative of the bride. The duo even stayed in the house of Putel.

However, on March 9, they fled with the girl when the family members were asleep.

"They stayed in our house for four days and eloped on March 11. We caught them and took the matter to police. The girl returned the jewellery that we had given her along with a few other things," said Putel.

"The girl is a major and she expressed her interest to stay with her lover. Her husband was also not interested to accept her. So, the family members resolved the matter mutually," said Inspector-in-Charge of Belpada police station.
