Bhubaneswar: BJD president and chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday lambasted the Congress-led UPA and BJP-led NDA governments for turning blind eyes to the interest of Odisha.

While speaking at the preparatory meet of BJD's 'Jansampark Padayatra scheduled to begin from October 2, Patnaik reiterated that Central negligence has acted hindrance in the progress of Odisha.

"Be it UPA or NDA, nobody is keen for the development of Odisha. The Centre has posed as a major hurdle in the progress of State", Patnaik said.

While preparing blueprint for the upcoming panchayat polls early next year, the party has decided to make Mahanadi and Polavaram issues to reach the people. It was decided in the meeting that party will connect the voters with State government's development agenda as the rural area is the vote bank of BJD. Party senior leader Surya Narayan Patro said the rural voters would be given priorities.

On the other hand, BJP reacted to chief minister's remark of central negligence. "BJD and its chief Naveen Patnaik are trying to save their image what has faded in the recent days. Now, there is no question of Central negligence", BJP MLA Pradip Purohit said.
