Bhubaneswar: Adding another feather to its cap, the Biju Patnaik International Airport located in the State’s capital is all set to run round-the-clock flight operations and passenger services from September 1.

Air travellers will be able to avail all passenger facilities such as security personnel and shopping at the Bhubaneswar airport 24X7 from this date.

R. Mahalingam, director of the airport said, “Most likely we will start the 24-hour operations from September 1. Shops, security services will be provided during night hours as well so that when a flight arrives in the airport, passengers will not face any difficulties.”

At present, air travellers are using two terminals of the airport. Initially, the 24-hour operations will be available at the domestic terminal from September 1.

Around 20 flights are flying to the Bhubaneswar airport from different parts of the country daily. Passengers are hopeful of more flights to Bhubaneswar with the introduction of the round-the-clock operations of passenger facilities at the Biju Patnaik International Airport.

Antarikha, a passenger, said, “This will increase connectivity to the city. More flights will operate from the airport and passengers will get options to choose from.”
