5 injured in joyride mishap at Water Park on Cuttack outskirts

Cuttack: Raja festivities on the opening day ended on a sad note after five persons including a 14-year-old boy were injured in a mishap inside Ocean World Water  Park at Phulnakahara, some 11 kms from Cuttack here on Wednesday.

According to reports, the accident occurred after one of the joyrides at the theme park malfunctioned due to some ‘technical glitch’, sources said.

Following the mishap, the injured Aditya Narayan was shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Two persons have been critically injured in the mishap.

“The metal plate of the joyride had got rusted and due to poor maintenance, it came off soon after its start,” said Aditya.

There was loud sound and I saw one of the cabin of the ride got separated from its base. The persons who were operating the ride did not take immediate steps to stop the other cars,” said Manas  Barik, a relative of the injured.
