Dharakote: Three passengers were killed and over 30 others injured when a private bus in which they were travelling overturned near Janibili village under Dharakote block in Ganjam district on Monday.

Reports said a private bus, Satyasai (OD-07-H-1645), carrying over 50 passengers was on the way to Rugumu from Berhampur when the driver lost control of the vehicle near Janibili village. As a result, the bus skidded off the road, overturned and fell into a roadside ditch.

While three passengers died on the spot, more than 30 others were injured.

The deceased have been identified as Rajendra Nayak of Rugumu village, Rama Nayak of Olamba village and Gopala Gouda of Janibili village.

Following information, Dharakote police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to the government hospital at Aska for post mortem.

The injured passengers were later admitted to Dharakote and Aska hospitals while some of them were referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur after their condition became critical.
