Bhubaneswar: As the BJP announced its 2nd list candidates and Congress declared its first phase candidates for Odisha, BJD has geared up to give fitting candidates for the upcoming parliamentary as well as Assembly elections in the state.

Top party leaders and observers have held marathon meeting with party president Naveen Patnaik to bring out appropriate candidates for both Lok Sabha and Assembly polls. Party insiders say all angles of winning possibilities are being examined. The party supremo will take a final call on this, they added.

However, no outcome from the meeting is out till now, but the list of candidates will be announced soon, sources said.

Yesterday, BJP announced second list figuring five names for Odisha LS seats and 57 names for Assembly seats while Congress released nine candidates’ names for Odisha Lok Sabha seats.

BJP has fielded former minister Pradeep Nayak from Kalahandi, sitting MLA Pratap Sarangi from Balasore and Subhash Chauhan from Bargarh, besides Nepol Raghu Mumu from Mayubhanj (SC) and Shibashankar Ulka from Korapur (ST) seat.

Meanwhile, Congress has nominated Madhav Sardar (ST) to contest from Keonjhar while Ashok Das from Jajpur and Sudhir Samal from Dhenkanal.

Likewise, former minister Chandrasekhar Sahu has been allotted ticket to contest from Berhampur while former chief minister Giridhar Gamang will fight from Koraput LS seat.
