Cuttack: One more allegation of clandestine swapping of new born baby has surfaced in the SCB Medical College and Hospital here. The hospital administration has been placed in a quandary after the members of a family denied to accept a new born girl alleging that the woman admitted to the hospital had delivered a male baby. The new born baby has been kept in the care of staff nurses of gynaecology department of the hospital.

Rashmita Mallik from Nischintakoili was admitted to the gynaecology ward of the SCB Medical and Hospital on last Sunday. In the evening Rashmita delivered a baby. She was allegedly told that she had given birth to a baby boy. However, after a few moments the family members were told that Rasmita in fact had delivered a baby girl. "We were told that Rashmita had given birth to a boy and after some time they changed the baby to a girl," alleged Sushant Mallik, husband of Rashmita. The family members of Rashmita denied to accept the baby girl now under the care of the nurses. The family members have demanded that a DNA test should be conducted to unearth the truth.

The incident has put the hospital authorities in a helpless condition. The administration has decided to introduce the tag system for new born babies to avoid such crises in the future. However, the administration has no answer about the future of the baby girl now left in the care of the nurses. What will happen to her?
