Koraput: Eight Maoist cadres from Narayanpatna block of Koraput district laid down their arms before police on Thursday.

The ultras, who were members of special zonal committee of the Andhra-Odisha Border Committee of CPI (Maoist), surrendered in presence of IGP (South-Western range) Jaswant Jethwa.

Those who surrendered were Ladda Nachika, Kayu Nachika, Kesari Kendruka, Rameya Kendruka, Rajeya Kendruka, Rabi Huluka, Sekaru Huluka and Siu Huluka.

All of them had initially joined the Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) in 2009 and later became members of Koraput divisional committee under Andhra-Odisha Border Committee of CPI (Maoist).

Earlier, two days back, a woman Maoist carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on her head had surrendered before the district police.
