Bhubaneswar: In order to provide postal services to people in left-wing extremism (LWE) - affected areas, the government has planned to open 30 more sub-post offices in undivided Koraput district.

Various services like small saving, Sukanya Samriddhi yojana, passport services, e-post and e-mail services will be made available in the proposed post offices, informed Manoj Pragada, senior superintendent of post offices, Koraput Division.

At present, two head post offices, 61 post offices and 487 sub-post offices are functioning under the Koraput postal division, Pragada said while attending the 49th foundation day of Koraput postal circle on Sunday.

“We are expanding our network in left-wing extremism-hit areas to open 30 more branch post offices as a measure for increasing last mile connectivity in postal services. We are upgrading technology so that people do not have any network connectivity problem,” Pragada said.

Among others, Padma Shri Kamala Pujari, Koraput Collector Madhusudan Mishra and SP Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo attended the foundation day function of Koraput Postal Division on Sunday.
