Malkangiri/Bhubaneswar: Local residents allegedly killed three Maoists on Sunday night at Korakanda village of Andhra Pradesh bordering Malkangiri district.

According to sources, the rebels have gathered in the village on Sunday evening and convened Praja court. Following the judgment of the Praja court, the extremists murdered a man of the village branding him as a police informer.

Irked over such activities, around 200 local residents pelted stones and attacked the rebels with sticks and other weapons killing three of them on the spot.

As the area is surrounded by dense forest, no officials have reached the spot till the latest report. However, police are trying to reach the spot.

In another incident, a Maoist was arrested from Muniguda of Rayagada district while planting landmine on Monday. He has been identified as Harihar Kadraka, Rayagada SP said, adding a tiffin bomb and detonators were seized from him. At least 11 cases are pending against him, he said.
