Bhubansewar: The festival of Holi on Monday turned into tragedy for some in the state where 14 people died, 12 due to drowning and two more due to a road accident.

Seven others were missing while taking baths in different water bodies after celebrating the festival of colours.

Sources said while two people drowned during taking bath in Kuakhai river, another person swept away in Daya river on the outskirts of the city.

Four deaths have been reported from Gadagadia Ghat and Chahata Ghat along Mahanadi river in Cuttack. Drowning deaths have also been reported from Jajpur, Berhampur, Keonjhar, Khurda and Balasore.

All the victims had gone to take bath in rivers and ponds after playing Holi.

Meanwhile, 10 people were injured in a group clash at Sikarpai village in Raygada district during Dola Yatra.
