Even as several parts of Odisha are reeling from excess heat and humid conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted rain and thunderstorm activities in the State till June 7.

As per IMD, thunderstorm with lightning is also likely to occur at several parts of the State and a ‘Yellow Warning’ has been issued in this regard. Sonepur district recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44.4 degrees yesterday.

Forecast and warning:

Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 03.06.2022)

Yellow warning ( be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapara.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 03.06.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 04.06.2022)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 04.06.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 05.06.2022)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak.

Day-4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 05.06.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 06.06.2022)

Yellow warning (be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Rayagada, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kalahandi.

Day-5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 06.06.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 07.06.2022)

Yellow warning (be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Kandhamal,Gajapati, Ganjam, Deogarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur.
