Rourkela: Two persons were arrested and about 120 quintals of dry mahua flowers worth about Rs two lakh seized when the contraband was being transported by a truck from Rajgangpur area in the state to neighbouring Jharkhand.

Excise sources said the truck carrying the contraband was seized near Jamankera boardering Jharkhand under Raibaga police limit about 60kms from here on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip off, excise personnel from Rourkela and Biramitrapur chased the vehicle and arrested the driver Rajendra Chandan (35) and helper Anukarana Kandulana(20).

Both the accused were produced before a local court here which remanded them to jail custody. Investigation was in progress to ascertain if others were involved in the racket.
