With iconic buildings like Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and the Dubai Mall, Dubai is all glitz, glamour and high rise, mostly known for luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture and a lively nightlife scene. However, once again the city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has set a new standard for luxury.

This time, it was for a phone number. Yes, you read that right. A phone number ending with 7 was auctioned for a whopping Rs 7 crore. Although, it might sound false, it is true. One particular mobile number 058-7777777 was sold for a whopping Rs 7 crore, WION reported.

In the auction, items such as unique number plates, sim cards and others are auctioned. These unique items have become a status symbol among the country’s elite. Everyone had their eyes on the unique mobile number with ‘7’ and it fetched AED 3,200,000. While the bidding started with AED 100,000, it reached to the final AED 3,200,000 within seconds, such was the craze for the number.

Similarly, another Rs 65 crore was generated just from the sale of exclusive car number plates. The auction reportedly collected over AED 38.095 (approximately 86 crore) in total. The auction featured 10 fancy car numbers plates and 21 mobile numbers.
