Around eight ultras including four women raided the house of Udayanath Sahu, a grocery shop owner, at Bhamarabadi village under Daringbadi police station in the forenoon and dragged him out.

The rebels fired three rounds from point blank distance 100 meters away from shop, killing him on the spot.

“They turned up at our house suddenly and tied my husband down. Then the rebels dragged him out of the house, killed my husband and looted us of our gold and silver ornaments,” the deceased’s wife Minakshi Sahu said.

The rebels left some posters on the spot before leaving.

Later, the family of the deceased lodged a complaint at Daringbari PS.

“We received information about the death of Udayanath Sahu earlier this morning. We are investigating the case and efforts are on to nab the ultras,” SP Kandhamal S Prabin Kumar said.
