Three arrested in girl trafficking racket

The three, identified as Tripal Singh (28) Chandrapal Singh (45) and Kumarpal Singh (45), with help of local middlemen had tried to take a 20-year-old poor tribal girl of Turungagada village yesterday with a promise of marriage.

However, the girl`s parents opposed and informed the other villagers.

A couple, identified as Khetra Majhi and his wife, Pratima had tried to convince the girl`s parents offering hefty payment and tried to take away the girl. The villagers opposed the steps by the couple and managed to overpower all three Haryana men but the couple managed to escape from the village.

Police reached the village and arrested all three persons from Haryana. After preliminary investigation, police suspect a big trafficking racket is going on in the district, the sources said.
