WhatsApp to End Support for Over 35 Older Smartphone Models
People are using smartphones for longer periods because many choose to upgrade when a new model or variant launches in the market.
However, others who do not want to invest too much in smartphones purchase a new one only when their current smartphone cracks, gets stolen, or is damaged.
However, using an older smartphone can lead to issues like missing out on the latest features and compatibility problems with newer social media apps.
For instance, WhatsApp will soon stop working on older phones. A recent report by CanalTech indicates that WhatsApp will no longer support over 35 smartphones from manufacturers such as Apple, Huawei, Lenovo, LG, Motorola, and Samsung. This includes popular models like the iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
Huawei and LG have stopped selling phones in India, but many people still use phones from these brands.
Those who want to continue using WhatsApp will need to upgrade to a newer smartphone.
It is not just WhatsApp; many other apps have similar policies. WhatsApp, with its vast user base of over three billion, highlights this issue prominently.
The affected phones include older models such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and Apple iPhone 5. To run WhatsApp, a device needs at least Android 5 Lollipop or iOS 12.
If you own one of these devices, consider upgrading before WhatsApp stops working.
