Passports play a crucial role in international travel and also serve as a vital document that confirms an individual's identity and nationality.

Due to such importance, many individuals turn to online platforms to apply for passports

In India, the Passport Seva portal has faced technical challenges, causing disruptions in the online application process and appointment scheduling at Passport Seva Kendras nationwide.

According to a report by the Indian Express, this technical issue has persisted for the past three days, causing inconvenience to passport applicants.

Despite efforts to contact officials from the Passports Seva division of the Ministry of External Affairs, no response was received.

A person managing the toll-free helpline mentioned that bookings were not being processed due to portal-related issues.

"The website has been down for the last three days due to a technical issue," said the helpline representative.

Meanwhile, visitors to the website are greeted with a maintenance message, indicating that services will resume on March 29, 2024, at 12:00 PM.

In a video shared on the 'X' platform, engineer Vaibhav Goel expressed frustration over his inability to use the Passport Seva portal.

In his tweet, Goel addressed @passportsevamea, questioning the actions of the development team. "From the past 3 days, I am unable to use the Passport Seva portal due to login issues, payment failures, and now server problems," he wrote. "Hire me as an intern, and I will fix this for free."
