This model is significant because its open source, meaning anyone can use it without charge.
Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, emphasised this new approach in an open letter, highlighting partnerships that will expand the model's capabilities across various companies.
Llama 3.1 boasts 405 billion tweakable elements, making it one of the largest openly available AI models globally, competing with offerings from companies like OpenAI and Google.
Meta's AI tool, Llama 3.1, allows users to respond to general knowledge questions, solve math problems, create images, find Reels, and perform multilingual translations, among other things.
In a recent announcement, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that users can now create custom images of themselves. He demonstrated this process in a video on Instagram, scanning his face using Meta AI to visualize himself as a gladiator, a boy band member, and wearing a big gold chain.
This tool is particularly intriguing as other AI tools charge for similar features while Meta offers them for free.
Although it may not currently match the competition, future enhancements could make it a serious contender.
