ChatGPT now delivers up-to-date data with web browsing upgrade
ChatGPT has become increasingly popular since its launch as an AI chatbot by OpenAI.
This tool continuously adds new features, providing more value to its users. However, it had a significant drawback being out-of-date.
When asked about events or products beyond its last knowledge update in September 2021, ChatGPT used to respond with, "I’m sorry, but as of my last knowledge update in September 2021… My information is not up to date, and I cannot provide opinions or information on products or events that have occurred after that date."
OpenAI has addressed this issue. On a social media platform on X, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT's capabilities are no longer limited. It can now access the internet to offer up-to-date and authoritative information, complete with direct links to sources.
It is no longer restricted to data from before September 2021. Users will also notice source links provided, similar to what Google's AI offers.

This enhancement has significantly improved the quality of information ChatGPT can provide to its users.
Additionally, OpenAI mentioned, "Since introducing browsing capabilities in May, we have received valuable feedback. Updates include adhering to robots.txt and identifying user agents, allowing websites to control how ChatGPT interacts with them."
It is important to note that this browsing feature is available exclusively to Plus and Enterprise users, who are premium subscribers.
This development has closed the gap that previously existed between ChatGPT and Google's chatbot, making ChatGPT more current and reliable for its users.
