Prithvi Shaw falls awkwardly and kicks his own stumps
After being snubbed by the selectors following a dismal outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, flamboyant opener Prithvi Shaw had embarked on a longer route to mark a return to the Indian side.
The right-handed aggressive opener has joined Northamptonshire to play Royal London One Day Cup. However, his debut against Gloucestershire in the group-B tie in Cheltenham on Friday was not that much impressive. He was dismissed in a bizarre fashion en route to his knock of 34 in the game.
In the final ball of the 16th over, Gloucestershire bowler Paul van Meekeren delivered a bouncer to Prithvi. The aggressive batter looked to pull it over fine leg for a big one. However, he failed to make a contact. In the process, he went off balance and fell awkwardly on the ground. Then he inadvertently kicked his own stumps, resulting in an unfortunate dismissal via hit wicket.

Before his debut for Northamptonshire, Prithvi had played a practice match as well where he scored a thundering 39-ball 65.
Notably, Prithvi has not appeared in the Indian jersey since July 2021 when he was part of a second-string Indian side for the tour of Sri Lanka.
