Rinku Singh not selected in India’s T20I squad for Windies tour, know why

BCCI has already announced Team India’s T20 squad for the West Indies tour. However, KKR star batsman Rinku Singh, who was in sparkling form in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), has not been selected in the team.

Most of the fans and experts were surprised over Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma’s selection over Rinku.

As per reports, Rinku has not been picked for the T20Is versus West Indies because he would be a part of the Indian side for the Asian Games in China. Veteran southpaw Shikhar Dhawan is all set to lead the team. 

Apart from Rinku, in-form Jitesh Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh and Rahul Chahar are also set to be included in Asian Games.

Legendry batter VVS Laxman is most likely to be named as the head coach of the Indian team for the event.

Most likely, a ‘B’ team will go to China since the Asian Games 2023 matches are in conflict with the Asia Cup and World Cup.

Notably, the Asian Games will be played in Hangzhou from September to October. BCCI has decided to send both men’s and women’s cricket teams to the event.
