Team India’s dream run in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 campaign has received a massive jolt. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will miss the remainder of the tournament as he has been ruled out of the mega event due to injury.

International Cricket Council (ICC) announced about the development on Saturday. Seamer Prasidh Krishna has been named as Pandya’s replacement. Prasidh will be available for Sunday’s clash against South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Pandya had suffered a left ankle injury while bowling against Bangladesh in Pune. The utility all-rounder was subsequently out of matches against New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka. He was expected to be fit for the knockout games after travelling to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. However, he couldn't recover in time.

The bowling all-rounder was integral for the team’s balance. He had picked up five wickets from four matches while batting only once in India’s campaign opener against Australia in Chennai in the mega event.
