Team India is facing immense criticism after their exit from the recently-concluded T20 World Cup in Australia following a humiliating loss against England in the second semifinal.

The BCCI is introspecting with the players about what went wrong for the Men in Blue in the mega event. As per media reports, former India captain MS Dhoni is now being spoken to by the BCCI. The Indian board wants the Captain Cool, who has the experience of winning ICC titles, back in the fold in some capacity. As per the same reports, Dhoni will hang up his boots from Indian Premier League (IPL) after the 2023 season.

The BCCI is keen to use Dhoni’s vast and rich experience to give a boost to Team India’s performance. The former India captain has already worked with the Men in Blue during T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE in an interim capacity. However, it has not yielded any significant result for the team.

As per BCCI, this move would also lessen the workload on head coach Rahul Dravid. There are also rumours that Rohit Sharma would step down as captain and Hardik Pandya would take over the mantle. Hardik has been successful as a leader for IPL franchise Gujarat Titans.

Though, the development is yet to be confirmed, fans will be excited to see the inclusion of Dhoni into the squad in some capacity.
