Though Team India’s top order batsman Shreyas Iyer is drawing severe flak from several experts and fans for his weakness against short ball, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif extended his support to the right-handed aggressive batsman.

Kaif hit back at Iyer’s critics on social media by saying that the aggressive cricketer has cemented his place in the Indian team with his aggressive approach and utility batting.

“Shreyas Iyer has had a phenomenal run recently and it should be appreciated. High time the world starts talking about his strengths and not keep pointing to his weakness. ShreyasIyer15,” Kaif wrote on his social media account X (earlier known as Twitter).

Kaif’s post has reportedly gone viral. Responding to Kaif’s comment, several fans have flooded the comment box with mixed comments.

“Iyer is very good talent on paper,” wrote a fan.

“Best young latent from Indian side alongside Rishabh Pant,” tweeted another fan.

In response to Kaif’s post, a third user commented, “@MohammadKaif Buddy he is still not up to the mark, he is too lethargic in the field and tries to be too cool which in fact might well be his downfall. He still hasn’t convinced anyone that he can be a permanent no.4 batsmen for India! He will surely lose his place if he shows swag.”
