Nandankanan Police on Friday arrested notorious thief Suman Sabar, who committed crimes in areas under different police limits in Bhubaneswar. 

Police investigation revealed that Suman, a resident of Tarini Slum in VSS Nagar, has several cases pending against him including eight cases at Nandankanan Police Station. 

The police recovered one gold necklace, five rings, five earrings, one nose ring, four pairs of bangles, five mobile phones, two lockets, one camera and Rs 37,000 in cash from his possession. These recovered items were stolen from a house at Pada Sahi village under Nandankanan Police limits.

Informing about the development, Zone 6 ACP, Ramesh Muduli said, “On May 4, Babuli Jena, a resident of Pada Sahi village, lodged a complaint at Nandankanan Police Station that his house had been robbed. As per his complaint, all the family members were sleeping on the roof of the house. The next morning they found the door of the house ajar and later found a box containing cash amounting to Rs 1.35 lakh and gold ornaments missing. However, they found the empty box lying a few yards away from their house. “

“Registering a case (Case No-115/2024), a probe was launched. During the investigation, we came to know that such crimes were also reported in Barang, Govindpur and Kandarpur areas. We zeroed in on Saman alias Suman Sabar of Tarini Slum in VSS Nagar for his involvement in the case. During interrogation, he confessed to his latest and five other crimes,” he added.
