Once again Odisha is on the boil over large-scale political violence and murder of a BJP worker in Khallikote of Ganjam district recently. The entire family of the deceased BJP worker Dilip Pahan has been shattered following his brutal killing on May 15.

They claim that the murder has been orchestrated at the behest of Khallikote MLA’s husband Daitari Behera. The wife of the deceased on Friday made some shocking revelations and claimed that her husband Dilip was murdered for joining the BJP after quitting the BJD.

“My husband, who was with the BJD, had joined the BJP. We want capital punishment for Daitari. If he is not taken to task, I will hack him to death,” said the wife of deceased Dilip.

Dilip’s father said, “Four persons with swords attacked us. We were in BJD and they attacked us for joining the BJP. The MLA’s husband is involved and he sent men to attack us. My son is survived by his wife and a 5-year-old son.”

Deceased Dilip’s mother urged the Central government to nab the real culprits involved in the heinous crime.

Khallikote MLA’s husband Daitari Behera said, “Election campaigning was going on and the BJD workers are not involved. The allegations are politically motivated and our names are being taken. We are not involved in any way.”

Though police have arrested nine persons in connection with the case, some more including the prime accused are still at large. Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed for investigation into the case.

CBI probe demanded

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased have demanded a CBI probe into the incident. The victim's father said, "As BJD legislator's husband and police officials are involved in the case, police investigation won't be fruitful. I want to request the Prime Minister to order a CBI probe into the incident."
