Kavya Maran & Ishan Kishan's viral pics infront of Charminar break internet; know its secret

Photographs and selfies of cricketer Ishan Kishan with business tycoon Kavya Maran, owner of IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad, in front of the Charminar in Hyderabad have taken social media by storm on Friday.

Not long enough after the photos were picked up by multiple profiles on X (formerly Twitter), an alarming truth followed. Turns out that despite the buzz, all of these pictures were AI-generated and shared as online spam.

Online fact-checking websites like The Quint reported that they ran the images through tools like Hive Moderation, Sightengine, and AI or Not, all of which indicated a 99% certainty that the photos were not real.

Further, a close look at the picture can give away the truth as in many cases the Charminar is shown to have more than four minarets or being unrealistically stretched up, giving clear signs of AI-spoofing.

On the same day, another set of AI-generated images claimed to show Kishan with cricketer Smriti Mandhana, including one where they appear to be getting married. However, they, too, were AI-generated.

The buzz was sparked by Ishan Kishan’s recent move to the Sunrisers Hyderabad from Mumbai Indians for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Kavya Maran’s team bought Kishan for Rs 11.25 crore in the 2025 IPL auction after his seven-year stint with MI.

Meanwhile, the viral photos of Ishan Kishan Kavya Maran and Smriti Mandhana served social media as yet another reminder of the growing trend of AI-generated misinformation. The issue highlighted the growing prevalence of digitally fabricated content that can potentially be used to malign one’s personality in an instant.
