Fauji BUZZ! Abhishek Bachchan to join Prabhas?

Tollywood Rebel Star Prabhas, one of Indian cinema’s biggest stars, is teaming up with director Hanu Raghavapudi for an ambitious period action drama titled Fauji. Backed by Mythri Movie Makers and set in the 1940s pre-Independence era, the project is already being mounted on a massive scale-  and the latest industry buzz suggests Abhishek Bachchan may make his Tollywood debut opposite Prabhas, after reportedly being approached for a key role.

According to the latest buzz in the industry, the makers have approached Abhishek Bachchan for an important character in Fauji, and conversations are ongoing. If the talks conclude positively, it would mark Abhishek’s first substantial entry into Telugu cinema- a move that would instantly give the film additional pan-Indian appeal. 

At this stage, sources describe the development as “in talks” rather than an official signing, but insiders claim the actor has liked the character’s arc.

While the film’s scale, sets and technical crew have drawn attention, it’s this potential Bollywood-Tollywood pairing that’s ignited fan excitement across industries.

A Stellar Ensemble and Big Production Values

Beyond the Prabhas-Abhishek chatter, Fauji is assembling a formidable cast and crew. The film reportedly introduces newcomer Imanvi as the female lead and features seasoned names such as Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Jaya Prada and Rajesh Sharma. Cinematography, reportedly by Sudeep Chatterjee, and large-scale production design point to a film being made with high technical ambitions- sprawling sets, battle sequences and a period look that aims to be both authentic and cinematic.

Prabhas' Project Lineups

Apart from Fauji, Prabhas has several projects lined up that showcase varied genres- from the romantic-horror comedy The Raja Saab to the gritty cop drama Spirit with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and the sci-fi epic sequel Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2. Fauji is shaping up as his next large-scale, historically tinged drama that leans into his pan-Indian star power.

Abhishek Bachchan’s Recent Work

On the other hand, Abhishek has been exploring diverse roles across platforms. His recent projects include Kaalidhar Laapata, the ZEE5 adaptation of Tamil hit KD (Karuppu Durai), and Be Happy, a Prime Video dance-drama where he plays a single father. He was also a part of multi-starrer Housefull 5. Up next, he is slated to appear in Siddharth Anand’s King alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Rani Mukerji, among others.
