Delhi Capitals (DC) have a disastrous start in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). After losing the encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 23 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, they have now lost their fifth match on the trot.

Though DC are without their first-team captain Rishabh Pant due to injury issues, the side has been far from convincing in all of their matches which have been lop-sided affairs so far.

The team dugout has some of the legendary names in world cricket including three-time World Cup-winning former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting as the head coach. They have also former India captain Sourav Ganguly as the Team Director. Moreover, they have world-class players like skipper David Warner, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, and Anrich Nortje in their ranks. However, the team has failed to impress so far.

Responding to Delhi’s disastrous show so far, former Indian flamboyant opener Virendra Sehwag slammed the Delhi Capitals staff and players without taking anybody’s name. The former aggressive opener bluntly stated that big names in the dugout do not add any value to the team’s performances.

“To be honest, there is zero value of the staff that is present there. It doesn’t matter how strong your team is. It’s the players who are performing badly out there. You can have as many great minds as you like in the dressing room, they are of no value if your players are not scoring runs or taking wickets,” said Sehwag during an interview.
