IPL 2023: Mind says GT will be champions, heart beats for CSK, says Sunil Gavaskar

Hardik Pandya-led defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) will take on MS Dhoni-led four times champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

As per former legendry India batsman Sunil Gavaskar, GT hold the key to win the IPL 2023. However, the former India captain would love to see CSK lift the trophy for the fifth time because of great Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

“My mind says GT are favourite woe in the title for the second time in the row. However, my heart beats for Dhoni’s CSK. CSK have always been my second favourite team apart from the Mumbai Indians (MI). My heart wants CSK to win because the fact that Dhoni is able to win it one more time would be fantastic,” said Gavaskar.

Gavaskar admitted that GT have a terrific opener in Shubman Gill who is going through the form of his live. They have also skipper Pandya in their armoury. But the former India captain feels that it would be lot of mind game in the final and Dhoni’s cool, calm decision-making will make all the differences.

“GT have got terrific players like Gill and Pandya. However, Dhoni’s calm and cool decision-making will make all the differences in the high pressure final match,” said Gavaskar.

Notably, this will be CSK’s 10th IPL final appearance. If they manage to win, it will be their fifth overall title alongside MI.
