Though last year’s runners-up Rajasthan Royals (RR) failed to enter the playoff race in IPL 2023, the Sanju Samson-led side had plenty of positives to build on for the upcoming season.

One of the positives for RR was promising opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. The explosive opener was in the form of his life and with his swashbuckling batting, he made fans ignore his opening partner Jos Buttler’s poor form in the tournament.

Jaiswal scored a total of 625 runs in 14 matches at an impressive average of 48.08 and strike rate of 163.61 including a century and five half-centuries. His highest score in IPL 2023 was 124.

Many fans and experts have called for Jaiswal’s inclusion in the Indian team for the upcoming ODI World Cup due to his brilliant performance. However, former Team India wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik feels that it is too early for Jaiswal to be included in the roster for the ODI showpiece event. But the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player suggested the selectors to fast-track Jaiswal for the T20I setup.

“I don’t think Yashasvi needs to be fast-tracked into the ODI setup. He is a young boy. He needs to be fast-tracked into the T20I setup. I think he needs to be one of the frontrunners for the T20 World Cup happening next year as there are only a limited amount of ODIs left to be played prior to this World Cup,” said Karthik.

As per Karthik, Jaiswal should be given an extended run in the Team India setup.

“I only think it’s fair that Jaiswal, when given an opportunity, is given an extended run as he is a very special player. He has shown us his incredible talent in this IPL. But when it comes to international cricket, it is a different cup of tea altogether,” he added.
