Following a humiliating loss against hosts West Indies, who have even failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023, in the second ODI, former pacer Venkatesh Prasad had lashed out at the Indian team.

“Test cricket aside, India has been very ordinary in the other two formats for quite some time now. Lost odi series against ban, SA and Aus. Poor in the last two T20 World Cups. Neither are we an exciting team like England nor brutal like how the Aussies used to be,” Prasad had tweeted.

“Despite the money and power, we have become used to celebrating mediocrity and are far from how champion sides are. Every team plays to win and so does India but their approach and attitude is also a factor for underperformance over a period of time,” he further wrote.

However, Team India bounced back strongly to register a resounding victory by 200 runs against West Indies in the third and the final ODI on Tuesday to win the three-match series 2-1.

Despite such a spirited and dominating display by the Indian team, Prasad has so far (till the filing of this piece) remained mum. He doesn’t have a word of praise for the youngsters in the Indian team who grabbed the opportunity in both their hands to dazzle in the match.

However, this kind of act by Prasad has not gone down well with several fans. Many observant fans have accused the former fast bowler of being ‘double standard’.

Notably, Prasad has always been hyper-critical about the performances of the Indian team and many star players in the past. However, he has seldom praised the team as a whole or any player for their collective and individual brilliant shows.
