In a bad news to the fans, star batsman Virat Kohli will miss the first T20I of the 3-match series between India and Afghanistan at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali on Thursday.

Head coach Rahul Dravid revealed that Kohli will miss the first match of the series due to personal reasons.

On the other hand, in a huge blow for minnows Afghanistan, star tweaker Rashid Khan will miss the upcoming three-match T20I series against India, starting on January 12.

Though after the World Cup final loss against Australia, several fans and experts had predicted that T20 career of veteran batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have ended, BCCI has given green signal to both of them for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

While Rohit has been appointed as the captain of the team for the T20 series against Afghanistan, Kohli has been included in the squad.

Meanwhile, former great and Indian opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth has expressed his support for the inclusion of Rohit and Kohli in India’s squad for the mega event.

As per the former World Cup winning opener, Rohit is an indispensable player when it comes to the ICC World T20. The former aggressive batter also believes that Kohli should be a guaranteed starter at the tournament.
