Rajendra Prasad Mohapatra

England dashed India’s chances of entering the final of the T20 World Cup 2022 and in the process Men in Blue’s chances of winning their second T20 World Cup after 2007 were shattered. So abject was Team India’s surrender that the experts and critics took the team to task.

Subsequently, the side will go through an overhaul, including a change at the top order. As per former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar, Hardik Pandya will definitely take over the team in the future and there will be some retirements on cards.

Here are a few players who can don the blue jersey at the next T20 World Cup.

Sanju Samson

Several cricket buffs were disappointed with the omission of talented Sanju Samson from the T20 World Cup 2022 squad. Now, the wicket-keeper batsman might just get the chances he deserves. Having played 16 T20Is with a strike rate of 135.16, Samson has been a player to be given a long rope. He has been a proven performer in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Samson’s aggressive approach could be a useful weapon for India, especially at the top of the order.

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan is a great prospect and could be a great addition to the squad before the next T20 World Cup. He has an impressive career strike rate of 131.16 in 19 T20Is. Kishan has impressed one and all with his consistent performances in the IPL. With India’s opening pair having an abysmal show throughout the T20 World Cup campaign, Kishan’s addition could spark a new lease of life to the Indian top order.

Umran Malik

Express pacer Umran Malik has the raw pace to be finetuned. He is still new to international cricket despite plying his trade with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. The Indian bowling came under a lot of criticism after Alex Hales and Jos Buttler carted them to all corners of the park in the second semifinal. Malik is known to be one of the fastest bowlers in the country and it’s high time that the team management should hone his skills.

Shubman Gill

The 23-year-old youngster had a great outing for his domestic side, Punjab, in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali 2022 tournament. His knock of 126 against Karnataka was lauded by many experts. On the back of that show, Gill has earned an Indian call-up for the New Zealand tour. Gill has it in him to be successful in the international level. He will look forward to make the most of the opportunity to cement his place in the Indian team ahead of the next T20 World Cup.
