All-rounder Shivam Dube finally lived up to his billing as he put up a brilliant show with both bat and ball to help India win the first T20I vs Afghanistan at Mohali on Thursday.

Dube smashed an unbeaten 60 off 40 balls and picked one wicket from two overs to be the chief architect in India’s convincing victory over the minnows.

Dube’s form with both bat and ball is a heartening news for India as they are looking to prepare a good all-rounder. The explosive all-rounder joined the middle at number four for India with the team in a difficult position of 28 for two with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill back to the hut. He forged effective partnerships with Tilak Varma and Jitesh Sharma to help the Men in Blue romp home.

Following the completion of the game, man of the match Dube credited Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni Dhoni saying that The Captain Cool’s tips have come in handy while batting.

“I keep talking to Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni). He is such a big player and a legend. I keep learning from him. I observe him. He keeps telling me how to bat in different situations. He has given me a couple of tips (that has worked). He has rated me many times as a very good player. If he is rating me as a good player, then I will definitely play well. My confidence was very high,” said Dube in the post-match presentation.
