General Election 2024: A sneak peek into electors, polling stations and '4 M challenges'

"We will take Democracy to every corner of the country," said Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar while announcing the dates for the general elections 2024. 

While addressing the media on dates for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Kumar gave a sneak peek into the electors' number, polling stations and more.

India has a total of 96.8 crore voters:

• 49.7 crore male

• 47.1 crore female

• 1.82 crore first-time voters

• 48000 Transgenders

• 82 lakh 85-year-plus voters

• 19.74 crore voters in 20-29 years age group

• 88.4 lakh persons with disabilities

• 19.1 lakh service electors

• 2.18 crore centenarian voters

Polling Stations/Booths for General Elections 2024:

• 55 lakh EVMs

• 10.5 lakh polling stations

• 1.5 crore polling officers and security forces

Facilities at Polling Stations:

• Drinking Water

• Toilets

• Ramp/Wheelchair

• Help Desk

• Voter Facilitation Centre

• Proper Lighting
