Utkal University campus in Bhubaneswar witnessed unrest yet again on Thursday.

As per the allegations from the students, some outsiders entered the campus and forcibly damaged the incumbency chart of the secretaries and presidents in the students’ union room. They also damaged some furniture. Tension erupted in the campus as the non-college students reportedly created a ruckus in the university campus.

Following the incident, questions are being raised over the frequent entry of outsiders into the campus and the safety of the students. Students on the campus are in a state of panic following the incident.

“Though student election has been stopped in the State this year, all the students often congregate at the students’ union office to discuss different issues and take important decisions. However, the miscreants entered the room forcibly and destroyed the incumbency chart and some furniture. We strongly condemn the incident,” said a student.

“These things are frequently happening inside the campus. These kinds of hooliganism should be stopped and the culprits should be punished,” he added.

“Students are not safe inside the varsity campus. The outsiders entered the varsity campus and damaged the incumbency chart today. They will enter the hostels and assault the students tomorrow. The authorities should take necessary steps to stop these kinds of activities permanently inside the campus,” said a girl student.

No comments have been received from the concerned University authorities.
