In a strange turn of event, a woman has claimed an ex-Army man from Sukdebpur village under Basudevpur police station in Bhadrak district as her son's father after 22-long years.

The accused has been identified as Kalpataru Das who is a retired Army personnel.

As per reports, Nitu Das from the neighboring Madhya Pradesh came to the village recently and claimed that Kalpataru is her husband and her son’s father.

She claimed that they had tied the nuptial knot at a temple in Madhya Pradesh 22 years back when Kalpataru was serving in the Indian Army. However, Kalpataru’s family was not interested in the marriage.

“We lived for a few months in Madhya Pradesh after the marriage. But, when Kalpataru took me to his home after our marriage, his family members did not accept me and drive me away. Kalpataru also succumbed to the pressure by their family members and left me alone in Madhya Pradesh,” she added.

Nitu demanded that Kalpataru should accept her now as his wife and her son should get the identity of his father.

When Kalpataru did not accept Nitu’s demand, she reportedly lodged a complaint against him at Basudevpur police station seeking justice.

No comment from Kalpataru could be obtained regarding the matter.
